What is Voiceworks all about?

​

-   Voiceworks is dedicated to helping each student find their most beautiful voice. Using our over 40 years of experience in voice performance and coaching, we strive to help students develop a singing voice that is ready to take on any audition, ensemble, performance, and more!

 

What age groups are taught with Voiceworks?

​

-   Voiceworks teaches all ages! From three years old to adulthood, our program can help you improve on your vocal journey no matter when you start.

 

Do l need prior singing practice?

​

-   Not at all! We are more than happy to help you with your personal vocal needs whether or not you have had previous experience.

 

What classes are offered by Voiceworks?

​

-   Voiceworks offers a range of classes for their students including lessons in classical and contemporary styles. We teach all ages and typically teach our students in private lessons, group settings, or a hybrid mix of both.

 

How long are private lessons?

​

-   45-60 minute private lessons is reccomeded, and they are done once a week. We are more than happy to increase the length and frequency of lessons to help a student prepare for events, auditions, competitions, etc., as time and schedules allow!

 

What is our lesson cancellation policy?

​

-   At Voiceworks, we believe most students can develop a strong, lasting foundation in their vocal abilities within about a year of consistent study. We're here to support each student as they work toward their individual goals-whatever those goals may be. We also understand that scheduling conflicts can arise. To help us plan effectively for all students, we require at least 30 days' notice if you need to cancel your vocal study schedule with us.

 

How often do students get to perform with Voiceworks?

​

-       We aim to give all our students an opportunity to perform and use the skills they are learning in our studio! Voiceworks Series and Performance classes typically have a performance for students every other month of the year!

 

What is the Suzuki Method of voice coaching?

​

-   Singing in the Suzuki Style is a method of instruction for children adapted from Japanese violinist Shinichi Suzuki. The technique incorporates listening practice, imitation, repetition, and a love for the student in order to foster quick vocal growth early on in a child's vocal journey.

 

Are classes and lessons ongoing?

​

-   Yes! Lessons and classes continue during the summer months and throughout the year.

 

How do I sign up?

​

-   To get in contact with us and sign up, click on the "Contact" tab of our website and send us an email, or fill out this form with your information and we will reach out to you! Also feel free to call 801-636-8887 to schedule your first lesson over the phone!

 

Do you prepare singers for professional work or auditions?

​

-       Yes! Voiceworks has helped students prepare for a wide range of performance opportunities and vocal careers. Our students have gone on to perform and work in many exciting areas, including the Metropolitan Opera, professional studio recording, the Tabernacle Choir, songwriting, Young Ambassadors, and the Young Performing Missionaries in Nauvoo. Many have also performed in community theater productions.

-       In addition, we have supported university voice majors pursuing degrees in vocal performance, music education, and commercial music. We assist students who are auditioning for and participating in well-known collegiate a cappella groups such as Noteworthy and Vocal Point.

-       Our goal is to help every student develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue whatever vocal path they choose

Can Voiceworks help me if I don’t have professional goals?

-       Absolutely! Voiceworks is delighted to help you on your vocal journey of improving your talents at whatever level you hope to achieve.

 

Should I take group instruction or private lessons?

​

-       We recommend that you begin with group instruction to develop the vocal fundamentals and then add private instruction at any time. Both private and group instruction help singers of all levels expand their vocal range, manage breath control, and develop performance abilities. The ideal for optimal progress is to enroll in the group class and private voice lessons concurrently. See the special offer for concurrent enrollment!

 

What are the benefits of group instruction?

​

-       Our group voice lessons offer a cost-effective, high-energy environment that builds confidence, improves vocal technique and fosters social connections, making them an excellent option for beginning or reviewing vocal skills. Classes help students improve skills through peer learning, where they can develop better listening skills, learn to sing in harmony and enjoy the social benefits of learning in a fun and supportive setting.

 

What are the benefits of private voice lessons?

​

- Private lessons tend to accelerate improvement due to the tailored instruction which boosts confidence and improves vocal technique through personalized feedback. The lessons help students prepare for specific auditions, competitions and performances.

 

What are the fees for classes and lessons?

​

-   Tuition for young singers in the Suzuki Style is $150 per month (4 lessons). Classes are ongoing throughout the year including summer months. We ask that students complete their current book before moving on to private lessons.

Adult group instruction is $200 per month. Classes are designed to build vocal fundamentals in two-month sections, each culminating with a public performance. Each section includes seven classes and one performance. Classes are ongoing throughout the year including summer months.

Private voice lessons are $150 per hour. Length of lessons may vary and 45-minute lessons are recommended.

Concurrent enrollment special: Enroll in both group and private instruction concurrently and receive a $50 discount on your monthly tuition. Tuition is due on the first lesson of each month.

About VoiceWorks

 

VoiceWorks Studios is located in Provo, just south of Timpview High School.  Debra and Barry Bounous, founders of VoiceWorks Singing Studios, are professional performers and recording artists, renowned for their ability to teach complex vocal skills in a fun and relaxed environment. 

 

Their foundational instruction applies to singing styles from classical to contemporary.  Both are members of Brigham Young University’s Voice Faculty, and they are excited to extend their expertise to children and adults throughout the community.
